Requiem for Our Loves

Hello! My name is Jen Renfroe and I am premiering my works, Requiem for Our Loves as well as Pathways on May 3rd at St. Cecelia Catholic Church in (820 Jasmine Way, Clearwater, FL) and May 5th at Episcopal Church of Ascension (701 Orange Ave, Clearwater, FL). I am seeking help from friends of the arts in the community that want to help my dream of sharing my music become a reality.

Funds collected will be used to compensate a few professional musicians that are willing to be involved.

This project was started back when I was 16 with an ear worm for a new Alleluia setting. This piece eventually grew together into a mass, but something was missing. During the beginning of the 2020 pandemic, the music really started flowing. The world suddenly began grieving together but socially distanced. Therefore, this piece is for the living to come together to grieve and honor the remembrance of all of our "Loves," those of our loved ones that have passed as well as living ones that have faded away. This piece also rejoices in the promise of the resurrection and new life and the texts that I chose to set to music reflects that promise.

In addition to Requiem for Our Loves, the program will begin with another original composition, a song cycle for voice and piano titled Pathways, which I began work on while a music student at USF College of the Arts.

I believe in the healing power of music, and it is my goal to facilitate healing and joy with with the power of music all of my days.
