My name is Troy Brown, and I live in Collingwood, Ontario, Canada. I’m half Jamaican, my father is from Jamaica, and the island has always been a huge part of my identity, my culture, and my heart.
When Hurricane Melissa struck Jamaica and devastated communities across the island, many families lost their homes, churches, belongings, and sources of safety overnight. Watching the destruction hit the very place my family comes from moved me into action. I knew I had to do something, not tomorrow, but now.
I’m raising funds in partnership with the Jamaican Canadian Association’s Hurricane Melissa Relief Fund, a trusted organization that has been supporting Jamaica and the Jamaican community in Canada for decades. I have no personal financial relationship with them; I am simply someone who cares deeply and wants to help the people of Jamaica rebuild their lives with dignity and hope.
How the Funds Will Be Used
Every dollar raised will be donated directly to the Hurricane Melissa Relief Fund through the Jamaican Canadian Association. These funds will support:
Rebuilding homes damaged or destroyed
Repairing churches and community structures
Providing emergency shelter and supplies
Helping families replace essential items lost in the storm
Supporting long-term recovery efforts for the hardest-hit areas
The goal is simple: help Jamaicans get back on their feet and restore the places they call home.
This is not about charity, this is about community, responsibility, and love for our people. If Jamaica has ever touched your life, your travels, your music, your culture, or your heart… this is your chance to give back.
Thank you for your generosity, your compassion, and your belief that together, we can lift Jamaica back up, stronger than ever.
Respect and blessings,
Coach Troy Brown
