The Carbon County Historical Society & Museum is partnering with author Jeff McNeish to reprint his trilogy of books about the Smith Mine Disaster near Bearcreek, Montana in 1943. This tragic event remains Montana's worst coal mining disaster, and Jeff's books provide a detailed and personal account of its impact on the community. The books, which were previously self-published, are now out of print, making it difficult for people to access this important piece of local history.
We are seeking support to cover the printing costs for 50 copies of each of the three books. These books will be sold at the Carbon County Historical Society & Museum, a local non-profit dedicated to preserving and sharing the region's rich history. The funds raised from these sales will help maintain and renovate the Museum, ensuring it remains a valuable resource for the community. Additionally, your support will help Jeff McNeish, a local author with familial ties to victims of the disaster, continue his important work.
By contributing to this fundraiser, you are helping to keep the story of the Smith Mine Disaster alive for future generations. Your generosity will make a meaningful difference for the Museum, the author, and everyone who values the preservation of our shared history. Thank you for considering a donation to this important cause.
