Hi, I’m Manish Ojha, a high school graduate currently on a gap year, pursuing my dream of studying abroad, my gateway to better opportunities. I graduated as the valedictorian from Global College International and earned the Top in Nepal award during my A-Levels.
Coming from a middle-class family, my education has been possible only through full and partial scholarships that I secured with relentless dedication and strong academics. Every step forward has been a battle, and now, I stand at yet another crossroad—one where finances threaten to hold me back from an opportunity I have worked tirelessly for.
Despite my academic excellence and leadership, I have had to turn down life-changing opportunities because of financial constraints. Recently, I was selected—among thousands of applicants—for a prestigious apprenticeship in Africa, a recognition of my leadership and commitment. But when it came down to the final step, I was asked to contribute a minimum of $1,000 out of $22,000—an amount I simply could not afford. And so, I had to walk away from a dream I had earned.
A similar pattern followed with university applications. Despite my credentials, I faced rejections—not because I wasn’t good enough, but because I required high financial aid. I am getting opportunities, but the lack of funds has become an unbreakable wall between me and them.
Yet, I refuse to give up.
My passion for economics, business, and finance drives me forward. I am a devoted Shark Tank enthusiast who can talk about business all day. Beyond theory, I’ve already put my skills into action. Through social entrepreneurship, I worked with a rural community in Nepal to solve a local issue, designing a prototype that I presented to the local government and other key stakeholders.
I had also participated in the National Economics Olympiad (NEO), where I was among the Top 75 candidates selected from a pool of 1000+ participants from all over Nepal, where I secured a Bronze medal. Continuing my journey, I then got the opportunity to participate in the International Business Olympiad (IBO), where I then secured the Silver medal ranking 14th among the 216 competitors from 32 countries. Continuing in this progression, I have gotten the opportunity to take part in the Economics Asia Convention 2025 happening in Tokyo.
The Economic Asian Convention (EAC) 2025 will be held in Japan from March 23 to March 29, 2025, where I will be leading the other two individuals representing Nepal. This is a great opportunity for me to represent Nepal on a global platform alongside competing among the global participants, further helping me grow and solidifying my knowledge and understanding of economics, finance, and business. It will also help me network and learn from global entrepreneurs, policymakers, and university representatives. In addition, this will also be a voice for my juniors and open doors for them to represent Nepal in Global Competitions.
But I need your help to get there.
This fundraiser will cover my registration fee ($1,000) and flight costs, which are rising every day. Even a dollar can bring me closer to this dream. If you can’t donate, sharing this with others who might be able to would mean the world to me.
Thank you for taking the time to hear my story. Your support—both emotional and financial—means everything. I promise to make Nepal proud and bring home a Gold Medal.
Beyond this, I want to create a platform where students like me—driven but financially constrained—can access fundraising support, ensuring that no one has to give up their dreams because of money.
With Heartfelt Gratitude,
Manish Ojha
