Replacing, Walter Collins, The Can Man's Home
Donation protected
Hello! My name is Walter Collins, a.k.a. the "Mansfield Can Man" in the red pickup. Most of you know that I collect cans to supplement my S.S. income. It is highly unlikely that once I am healed and out of rehab that I will be continuing with canning. I have made so many wonderful friends in Mansfield over the years and I will truly miss seeing and talking with you all!
As some of you know this has been a very trying year for me. I have been in and out of the hospital because of a nasty fall, blood infections, major surgery (I had to have a graph (artificial vein) replaced from my heart down my left leg), I also contracted the Corona Virus while in rehab. While all of this has been extremely hard on me, I found out that during my stay in the hospital, my home (I live in a trailer park) flooded due to the water heater giving way. I have lost my home and most of my personal possessions (most of which were things my late wife, Madeline and I shared throughout our lives) due to water damage and mold.
My children have started this GoFundMe page in the hopes that you kind and generous people would be willing to help me out a little in replacing everything I lost including my home.
The insurance does not cover everything, ie...medical bills, demolition for the existing trailer, the pad has to be demolished, removed and a new one put in, the cost of the new trailer to be put in, furniture, the list goes on and on.
So many of you have reached out to inquire about me and my health status, So many of you have sent me cards and or little gifts to help lift my spirits. To all of you who have done these things, I can't even tell you how deeply touched I am! From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU EVERYONE! I'm so overwhelmed by the outpour of concern, good wishes and prayers you have all sent my way.
