Replacing Supplies - Fire Loss

Secwepemc Nation's Elder Flora and her husband John, Metis, work with the men that are healing at Vision Quest. John is a drug and alcohol counsellor and Elder Flora is the Elder for the group.

The legacy of the residential schools(death camps) is intergenational trauma and often shows up as alcohol and drug misuse, destroying lives. Culture saves lives and helps the men in their healing journey.

As a result of the summer 2021 fires the hand work supplies were destroyed. Thousands of dollars in hand work supplies were lost. This included materials for beading, drum making and other traditional hand work supplies.
