Replacing Our Lost Trees: Support Callander Road Trees

Hi my name is Pat, I have lived on Callander Road for over 30 years and one of the things that attracted me to this area was the greenery.

Sadly, in recent years we’ve lost a significant number of much-loved trees on Callander Road to disease, leaving gaps where there was once shade, greenery, and vital habitat for local wildlife.

At the moment, we have 6 empty cemented holes where Lewisham Council has removed the old trees but failed to replant new ones. As a family who are residents on this lovely Road, we need help in replacing these trees - and we’d love for you to be part of it. But we need your ideas, support, and help raising the funds to make it happen.

Why trees matter to Callander Road:

Our trees aren’t just decorative. They clean the air, support local wildlife, improve our health and wellbeing, and make our street a beautiful, inviting place to live. They even increase property values, homes on treelined streets are worth more on average than those without.

What it will cost:

• Planting a new tree costs £395.

• Additional expenses like removing old stumps, repairing pavements, installing tree pits, and watering will increase cost. Although the Council allocates a small budget for tree replacements, funds are currently stretched - so this is where we can step in.

Our goal:

We aim to plant 6 new trees and need to raise £2,370 by 30th December 2025 from residents, local businesses and generous donors like you. Your contribution will make a lasting difference for our street and the next generation.

Next planting season is 2025/2026.

Once we’ve raised the money, Street trees for living experts will work with us to choose suitable species that are safe for our homes, pavements, and services.
