REPLACEMENT FUND FOR ATV STOLEN FROM CAREGIVER

An anonymous individual identified only as "George" has generously donated a Brand New Honda 2023 TRX420 Rancher 4x4 ATV!

Two employees of George, Steve and Tim, contacted my mother this morning, saying that their employer saw her story on the news and instructed them to buy an ATV and bring it to her. And that's what they did.

Jose from Modesto Honda on Carpenter delivered the ATV, driving it out of the back of a large van.

It's so generous! We are amazed at the generosity of the community. Once the need was made known, we were blessed by the people that came forward to help her out.

The funds from the GoFundMe account will be used to buy the remaining equipment that was equipped on my mom's original ATV. Primarily, a spray rig and the battery system needed to operate it, along with a tow hitch. We're also looking into other equipment we can put on the ATV to make it harder to steal.

She'll also be making some changes at the ranch, specifically for making storage and securing of the new ATV easier to do. We've already started modifying a fence and gate. Steve and Tim brought a heavy-duty chain and lock that we're using now, stringing the chain through the ATV frame and having it secured around a tree, at least for the moment.

With the need met, we disabled future contributions to this donation effort. Thank you all for your generous gifts! The gifted ATV is truly amazing! We'll be using your cash contributions to get this new ATV equipped like the old one was and make it harder for thieves to try to steal it in the future.

This past Easter Sunday night, somebody stole an ATV from my parents' house.

My mother used the ATV to do everything around their property, from feeding the cows, to fixing fences, to taking care of things in the pasture.

My mother's name is Karen Risley. She was a Charge Nurse at English Oaks Convalescent Hospital for over 30 years. She's worked hard her whole life and only retired because the risk of a COVID infection at the nursing home she worked at was too high considering her age, over 70.

My father, Bobby, had a stroke in January, and can barely move his right side. He's over 80. They used to work at taking care of their little farm together in their retirement years. Now that entire burden has fallen on my mom.

Years on her feet as a nurse haven't been kind to her joints. She's got bad knees and ankles, and had a hip replacement last year. She has to use a walker to get around.

She depended on that ATV to keep doing her daily activities.

A few people have asked if there was a "GoFundMe" that they could contribute to in order to help her out, so I've set this up for her.

She had a Yamaha Grizzly 125 with a tow bar and spray rig. (The pictures above are from when she first got the ATV.) Even the 125 engine strained at times while pulling the trailer and transporting her over the rough ground of the pasture.

We don't know if we'll be able to find a suitable used ATV that will work, so we set the fundraising goal at $10,000 in case she needs to buy a new ATV and equipment. Any help will be appreciated.
