Replacement for Car Destroyed by Suicide

On May 2, I packed all my belongings, my dog and myself into a recently purchased used Honda CRV to move from Louisiana to Vermont. I had been accepted into a school program up there so I saved up for the car and the trip, quit my job, and sold my furniture to make the move. On May 3, as I was driving on the highway, a man intentionally crashed his car over the guard rail. As I drove by minutes later, that man ran at a full sprint into traffic to take his own life, after his own crash had failed to do so. 
He passed away almost instantly and died before I could run out of my car to check on him. I can’t imagine the pain he must’ve been in to make that choice, and I can only be thankful that no one else on the highway was hurt by his action. 

My car was totalled, my insurance is not replacing it, and I refuse to sue the man’s already distraught family or estate for reimbursement for the damage to something as inconsequential as a car.

Still, I am now stranded, jobless and carless, in a city where I don’t know anyone, where it is clear you need a car to get around and work and I am desperately hoping that I can somehow raise enough for a downpayment on another used car.
