Replace Vandalized War Memorial

Donation protected
On July 4th, 2019 the Veteran's Monument donated by the Vincent Massey Branch 164 Legion - Yellowknife was vandalized.

The monument was unveiled on November 11, 2005, by then-Premier Joe Handley and sits within sight of the city's RCMP detachment, on a street named Veterans Memorial Drive.

That year, the 60th anniversary of the end of the Second World War, had been designated the "Year of the Veteran."

The inscription on the monument reads: "This monument salutes all men and women who have served Canada in a time of war and peace. We will remember them."

The Board of Directors are working hard to find funds to replace the monument and are looking into grants that will assist them. There has been a outreach from other Legions and individuals who are offering to help and therefore this fundraiser has been started.

We are hoping to raise what we need to erect a new monument by Remembrance Day 2019.

Lest We Forget.
