I’m fundraising to support Gyanjyoty Rural Development Welfare Trust. This school in Bodhgaya, India, supports children in the local area who would not otherwise attend school.

I visited in 2019 with my family, including my 3 children who were 7, 9 & 10 at the time. We were welcomed by staff and students.

At that time the school needed a battery to store electricity for the times when power was cut off, which happens often. I have recently been made aware that the battery has come to the end of its working life, and is now no longer working. I would very much like to support Ranjan, the head teacher, in replacing this battery.

The school has 280 children on role, as well as 22 orphan children who live on site full time.

Bodhgaya is a special place. The Buddha attained enlightenment under the Bodhi Tree in this village.
