Replace the Chapter House Piano

Donation protected

In December 2020, the Alpha Lambda Chapter House suffered a boiler failure, which in turn caused pipes to freeze throughout the house. We were able to limit the water damage to just the turret of the house, doing some minor damage in Room 1 (second floor) but severe damage to the Piano Room on the ground floor. Insurance did not cover any of this.

A large section of wall and portions of the ceiling had to be repaired, and all the flooring had to be replaced. This was paid for out of reserves. Worst of all, the Young Chang baby grand piano acquired in the early 90's was damaged beyond repair, and we do not have the financial resources to replace it without assistance.

Our goal has been to replace it with an instrument of equal or better quality. The chapter is growing, the house is nearly at capacity, and we are certain filling that empty space with a great piano will just bring additional life and music to the Brotherhood. Brother David Horine has helped to locate and arrange play-testing a quality Samick baby grand piano, used but in fantastic condition, ready to be purchased and delivered immediately. The cost of this, with delivery, is $8500. This also includes an artists' bench, waterproof piano cover, and installation of a humidity control system.

We will close this fundraiser by September 19, 2021 and work have everything - piano and plaques - in place for Homecoming 2021 in during the first weekend of October. We hope to hold a brief dedication concert the Saturday afternoon of Homecoming.

Any funds raised above the amount will go towards the chapter's philanthropic music activities.

Donations will also be accepted by mail. Please send them to:
