The night of August 9, I was jolted awake by my boyfriend telling me we needed to get stuff off the floor because the basement's flooding. I got up and started moving things onto tables, couches, and anything else with some spots still dry, but water was still coming in at many of the seams of the house.

Quickly, the water rose to our ankles, and we figured we needed to move a lot even higher. So we started working towards that. Then the water started pouring in from the door that's down there. As we watched the water rise in the backyard, we figured out that we needed to move as much as we could upstairs. We grabbed as much as we could in the times between 1-3am. By the time we gave up, the water was above our knees and still climbing.

Though we don't know the full extent of the damage at this point, we are going to need help replacing many items. His bed, couch, table, dresser, nightstands, a lot of clothing, and so much more. Plus a bunch of my own items I have there, as well as any food we had.

We both have trouble asking people for help, but I don't think there's another way to be able to make it through this. And I know he will not ask at all. So, we will appreciate any help you can give.
