Help replace our stolen historic horse trough!
Donation protected
Last August, in broad daylight, Limpsfield’s historic horse trough was stolen from its long-standing spot at the corner of Detillens Lane and the A25. Despite strong evidence, police investigations have not led to its recovery. We are now working to commission a high-quality replica, complete with the original inscriptions, to restore this piece of local heritage.
Unfortunately, insurance will not fully cover the cost, so we are asking for community support to help fund the replacement and secure installation.
The trough was donated to Limpsfield in 1913 by local residents, Alice and Horace Barry. It was inscribed with the following:
“Drinking Fountain and Cattle Trough Association 70 Victoria Street SW"
“Presented by Alice and Horace Barry 1913”
“Do well unto thy servant”
We would be very grateful for any contribution, however small in order that we create the best quality replica possible.
