Replace our roof to avoid closing forever.

Peter Pan Preschool has served the local community for over 25 years. It originally operated from a local school in Runwell before relocating in 2016 to it's current home within the Wickford Primary School grounds. We have 40 families that come to our preschool and also have a high number of vulnerable children with additional needs that we support.

On 2nd October we noticed an issue with the roof. After inspection by a surveyor we have been told that the building is safe to use only until the end of this year (December 2023).

In the opinion of the roofers that have given us quotes and the surveyor that carried out the detailed assessment, it appears the roof was not installed correctly. As the boards were not secured they have warped and lifted and need urgent replacement. The total cost is £24,000.

This means we only have 9 weeks (7 academic weeks) left to raise the funds and have the works carried out. We have roofers that are prepared to carry the work out during the 3 weeks we are closed for the Christmas break but we need your support in helping to raise the money to prevent us from closing permanently! If we have no building then there is no preschool!

Essex County Council can only offer very limited support and whilst I am prepared to explore other avenues, we are quickly running out of time.
