Kit Needs New Floors & a New Espresso Counter

Because so many of you wonderful people asked for ways to help and support us through this unexpected closure and retrofit- here we are. I’m truly so grateful for this steadfast community having our back.

Since I opened in 2019, and moved into this almost turnkey cafe space, I have always wanted to rip out the pre existing cash/espresso counter and rebuild it more functionally (and so I could get to everything to clean it all properly), but other unexpected urgencies kept taking up all my capital and credit. (Enter three broken ankles and covid lockdowns).

6 (but actually 9) years later, and this bar is simply not okay for us to be using anymore.

Much of the flooring is cracked and unsafe. The counter had water damage. We want to be able to make sure our space is safe, healthy and sanitary for producing food in and serving our patrons.

So we’re pulling the trigger on the whole project and replacing the *entire* floor and rebuilding the bar from scratch.

We’re tentatively hoping to reopen before April 24th.

I want to reassure you all that we’re okay and not at risk of needing to close down permanently, business has been decent and I honestly feel so optimistic and happy about what our team has built and become, and excited at the possibilities of growth this will allow us.

However; cash flow is a real thing, and coming out of January, our slowest month by far, and then also having just needed to close and dispose of spoiled product due to the recent ice storm, and now being closed again, our cash flow could use some help, if people really want to support us and can afford to donate. I understand completely it’s not in many peoples capacities, and am always so thankful for just the kind words and encouragement from everyone.

Transparency: We truly have very little idea as to what we’re getting into in terms of cost of this project. It was urgently necessary regardless, so we’re going ahead. Any funds raised here will help as we lose sales for every day we are closed; we’ll use it for materials, rent (our landlord is being fairly flexible for us as well, thankfully!) AND to support our staff who this also puts in a hard position as they’re out of work until we reopen.
