Replace Our Flooded Market Van
Chapel Hill Farmers’ Market was started in April 2008 by Farmers of Orange, a state non-profit organization created for local farmers by local farmers. All of our farmers and artisans live within 60 miles of Chapel Hill, NC and bring fresh quality produce, value-added farm products, and crafts to market year-round. The market is open twice a week during the summer, on Saturdays and Tuesdays. We support 60 small, local businesses.
Due to severe flooding during TS Chantal on July 6, our market van, holding all our market equipment, was flooded! The water line is about 4 feet up. We use the van to store all our tents, tables, event supplies, and merchandise at our location at University Place mall. The van is no longer operable and will need to be replaced. We are assessing the damage to equipment and merchandise. With the busy summer season here, we need to replace everything as soon as possible to keep our market running!
UPDATE: The equipment inside the van is mostly okay and just needs to be cleaned! All funds raised will go toward a new van!
