The Cary High Band has been making music for more than 100 years, tracing its roots back to 1921. Since then, it has impacted the lives of thousands of students through leadership, fellowship, and most of all, music. The program includes curricular and extra-curricular bands including concert, symphony, and jazz bands as well as the award-winning marching band. However, our program receives little funding from the school system.
To help finance the marching band, we have various fundraisers throughout the year, as well as our fair-share assessments where the cost of the marching band season (music, equipment and props, travel to competitions, etc.) are split among band members. To help us continue the program’s legacy we are raising funds for two distinct purposes.
1. The first is to help provide scholarships to students in need. The fair-share assessments are typically about $1,200-$1,500 for a marching band season. We provide families with the opportunity to earn these fees through various means. However, it is often not enough to cover the entire amount and the remainder must be paid out-of-pocket by the students. We believe everyone who wants to participate should be able to and that finances should never be a barrier. Proceeds from your donations will go to our scholarship fund, ensuring that all students, regardless of means, can participate in the Cary High Band.
2. We are also raising money to help replace old equipment and instruments. Being an older organization, we have many band-owned instruments and equipment that are in dire need of replacement. Most of these old instruments are being used by students who can’t afford instruments on their own.
Thanks for any help you can provide to help us keep the Cary High Band developing musicians and leaders for the next 100 years.
