This is incredibly difficult for me to write, but I’m asking for help after my 2019 Kia Forte was stolen from in front of my apartment building this weekend.

Less than a year ago, my daughter and her husband gifted me this car during a very difficult time in my life. It meant so much to me, not just because I needed a reliable vehicle, but because it gave me a sense of independence and stability when I was trying to get back on my feet.

To make this loss even more painful, my father’s ashes were inside the car when it was stolen. Losing the car was devastating on its own, but knowing that something so meaningful to our family was taken with it has made this even harder.

I had only moved into my apartment in April, and for the first time in a long time, I felt like things were starting to work out. I was beginning to feel settled and hopeful about moving forward. Having this happen now has been incredibly overwhelming.

Unfortunately, I did not have theft insurance on my car, and I am not financially able to replace it on my own.

I live in Warren and work in Pontiac, about 30 minutes away. My biggest concern right now is being able to get to and from work and maintain my job. I also need reliable transportation to pick up my medications and get to my doctor appointments.

Any funds raised will go toward helping me replace my vehicle so I can continue working, take care of my health, and regain the independence I lost when my car was stolen.
