Hey everyone Ian here, unfortunately about a month ago my camera’s shutter windows broke unexpectedly right before Blooming Fire went in to record. We were so disappointed because it was one of the biggest recording opportunities we’ve had yet, but we didn’t have a professional camera to film the entire experience on. So I set my camera through USPS mail to be repaired by Sammy‘s camera. During shipment at some point the camera was stolen because when it arrived at Sammys camera to be repaired there was no camera in the box. Unfortunately I have speculation that it was a USPS worker or a delivery person because the package was sealed just as I had sent it. Sammys camera reached out to me with photos of the arrival and my heart sank because I only did the basic insurance on the package. This was a huge learning experience for me and I should have paid extra to send a package worth this much. I’ve submitted two claims to USPS and tried calling multiple times but no one has gotten back to me. I have received a check for $100 in the mail for my insurance claim, but this camera brand new was $2000. I also reached out to my renters insurance but it doesn’t cover the stolen package as it wasn’t at our house when the incident happened.

 

I’m reaching out to friends and family to help me replace the camera body that was stolen and help me get back to work. I not only use this camera to film everything for my band Blooming Fire as we are completely independent. We have the biggest recording session of our lives coming up at the end of February and we really want to be able to capture the magic. I also have been building my portfolio in film and editing and have been using this to make an income while I’ve been healing from my surgeries.

 

Luckily only the camera body was stolen as I kept all of my lenses at home. I’m actually going to be purchasing a preowned camera so it’s a little less expensive. The asking amount for this fundraiser includes the cost to replace the camera body including tax, minus the $100 from USPS plus the $304 tax this platform will collect if I raise the full amount.

 

I know times are tough and I really appreciate anyone who can give even a little bit, because a little bit goes a long way. I can’t stand people who steal and I feel extremely violated as this was sent through USPS which I thought would be safe, especially since the package arrived in tact.
