Repatriation of Brother John back to Country

Donation protected
Hi My name is Neville, Johns youngest brother. My brother died in 1983 in Adelaide jail in a single cell isolated by himself of epilepsy seizure, neglect due to negligence which killed his body. He was buried in a Adelaide cemetery by the government in a pauper's grave.

In 2024 members of the family visited the cemetery grave site where John was buried. A cemetery staff member informed us that John was buried with 7 other unidentified bodies for many years in the same grave plot.
This is not how we respect our Aboriginal people under Sorry business protocols and procedures. this has caused untold damage in the area of grief loss, ongoing trauma to the Highfold family.

The Family have become very angry and bitter at the cemetery owners for not notifying family members of any removal of my brother body from his grave site. having 7 strange bodies which we don't identify to has caused the loss of his spirit and soul to travel to the universe to be with his ancestors and family.
inline with customary Aboriginal Law and Sorry business customs a loved one must rest on their own country surrounded by ancestors, family and kin. John must return to his Dreaming Spiritual place on country at Koonibba Mission to final resting place and the family to fore fill their obligation to brother John by returning to country.

Bringing John home requires significant funding and resources such as, exhumation, costs, legal approval, funeral arrangements, a formal burial, a head stone, travel cost and accommodation for family members. we look forward to the community to contributing to our me go Fund Page to get him back home to Koonibba mission to be with our ancestor's and family.

Funeral service we hope can be end of April 2026
in closing out of all the black deaths in custody we think that John may be the only person where the main stream system killed his body and killed his soul and spirit for many years, and this is the reason why we must repatriate him back to our fathers country called Koonibba Mission.
