Our family is deeply saddened to inform you the passing of our mom , Thankamma Paulose on 27/12/2019 in Perth, Western Australia while visiting her daughter and family. This photo was taken a few hours before mummy passed away. It was her long standing wish to visit Australia and spend some time with us. Mum along with dad reached Perth on 22/11/2019. We are thankful to God that we got this time with her.
Thankamma Paulose (78) was born to Iype Varkey and Aleyamma Varghese the eldest daughter and second of the three boys and three girls. She was a bright bookworm and studious child, so after completing metriculation attended medical school to be trained as a Homeopathic Doctor. T.J Paulose (Dad) and Thankamma (mom) was the third batch at medical school. They married in 1968. She started her medical practise and established her clinic soon after. The practice continued till she retired in 2018.
She practiced her profession for 50 years at a very nominal cost to her patients. Many of her long standing patients came to her for advice and counsel. In her long service, she may not be an economic success but was successful in generating an enormous amount of goodwill, respect and earned the name “Thankamma Sir” in the community.
She loved songs and used to sing in her younger days. She loved her flowers and used to maintain a flower garden, till she was physically unable. She loved children and was always over protective to the extent that it sometimes exposed her insecurities and her sensitive nature. All her brother’s had passed on, she being the eldest of the surviving sisters; she also played the role of Matriarch of the extended family and was affectionately called “Valiya Mummy” (big Mom). She is survived by three children.
She was a gentle soul, always presented herself in a professional manner and had a smiling face.
It is always better to give than to receive, but their are times when we need to act in humility and be gracious enough to receive. The family wishes to repatriate the remains back to our hometown in Kothamagalam, Kerala, India from Perth, Western Australia. To meet the repatriation costs and for the family to attend the funeral services, we have very reluctantly set up this gofundme page to ease the financial burden on the family during this difficult time.
We take this opportunity to thank family, well wishers, known and unknown friends who have overwhelmingly supported us. May God Bless!
