Hi, my name is Trudie Jackson and I am fundraising on behalf of the Parochial Church Council for repairs to the Priest's door and South Porch door in Pakefield Church which are used as Fire Exits.

We recently had a visit from the County Council Fire Safety Officer who said that if urgent repairs are not made we would not be able to hold large events such as weddings, funerals, concerts, craft fairs, cafes, or services in the church. We would be restricted to a maximum of 60 people at a time.

We are currently trying to raise money for extensive repairs to the church tower, as well as to maintain the structure, and being unable to host large events would inevitably curtail all our normal fundraising activities.

Pakefield church is over nine hundred years old and of significant historic value to both the congregation and local community. Being unable to welcome people inside would be a sad loss for everyone.

The church has provided a haven to so many through the centuries, through famine, plague, storms, war and the recent covid pandemic. Through it all the church has been a place of peace, sanctuary, welcome and prayer.

We want to ensure Pakefield church survives for another nine hundred years and can continue to serve the community, but we need your help.

We have had a quote of £1700 to make remedial repairs but it may cost more depending on what may be found when they are removed.

So we are asking for £2000 to go towards those repairs. At present we do not have the funds to do this and we are asking you for help.

Please help us to keep Pakefield Church open and safe for the community in times of joy and sorrow, and continue to be there for those who seek comfort.
