Repairs for Deployment Truck

Tax deductible
Black River Search and Rescue Inc (BRSAR) provides Search and Rescue (SAR) assistance for lost pets (and people). We respondwith advice and direction to an average of 620 requests for assistance per year free of charge, and actually deploy our hounds in about 80 - 100 cases per year.
We custom built our Deoloyment Vehicle four years ago to safely and comfortably accommodate all four of our hounds and up to five adult humans.  As a 501(c)3, BRSAR endeavors to keep the cost of our services to our clients to a bear minimum, charging just what it costs to maintain the truck, dogs and kennels (no salaries).
On occasion, clients simply cannot afford the requested fees; however, if deploying the hounds seems to be a viable option for recovery of the lost one, we will go anyway. Therefore, we often find our budget exceedingly tight, as we do now.
Our Deployment Truck has broken down and we must replace the diesel particulate filter, the exhaust system, and determine the electrical issue we experienced on our last deployment in it. For an as yet undetermined reason, the inverter has shorted out, causing the air conditioner to fail in the dog cargo area. With no air conditioning, obviously we cannot transport the hounds - especially in the summer.
Without the Deployment Truck, we are forced to rely on my personal 2011 Jeep. In the heat of the summer, it is too risky to leave any dogs in the Jeep while tracking with another hound. Allowing the engine to idle and run the vehicle air conditioner for hours at a time is also out of the question (the Jeep has over 160,000 miles and most of the time there is no one to observe the vehicle).
Therefore, we can only deploy with one hound at a time. That means we do not have the ability to run the dogs in relay and allow them to rest and cool off between tracks. We have to take more frequent and longer breaks for the safety of the hound, so we are not nearly as efficient.
It is not often that BRSAR asks for donations, but we are rather desperate at this time. So if you could please consider donating to our fundraiser, you would be directly supporting our efforts to Reunite The Lost With Their Loved Ones!
