I've never felt so horrible in my entire my life... On New Years Day, I was driving my girlfriend's car as we ran errands. We were headed to Ikea to pick up some things for her new place.

 

We approached what seemed like a typical traffic circle. In a moment of confusion I mistook a green light veering to the right for a green light overhead and crossed into oncoming traffic. We were struck by a vehicle and the tail end of her car was badly damaged. I guess the other driver swerved to avoid T-boning us because he could have easily hit the driver's side door if the timing had been any different. It could have been much worse. I'm glad we are still alive.

 

While I'm relieved that nobody was injured in the accident I'm heartbroken to learn that the damages from the accident have been declared a total loss. The car was a 2005 Subaru Forrester LL Bean Edition. She LOVED that car, IMMENSELY and I can't even imagine how many memories are attached to it. I have caused such a great deal of damage with this one mistake...

 

 

The last couple months of 2021 were really tough for me financially. I've exhausted my savings and I'm just out of options.

 

ANY help is GREATLY appreciated.

 

We just got the repair estimate today (the total was $6748.90)... I admit, I was more hopeful before seeing it... At the moment I'm feeling a pretty defeated. I'm sure my girlfriend is even more stressed than I am.  That just makes it hurt even more. She needs her car to get to work and... The pandemic has caused used car prices to soar. This is just really bad timing. I haven't cried this much in years. Trying to stay positive but without help I certainly won't be able to cover rent/food/phone/etc this month. Things I'll use the funds for (Prioritized):

 

1. Rental Car for the month (so that she is still able to get to work and keep her job)
^ I have to raise funds to do this immediately ^

2. Fixing the car or finding another used car within the same price range.

3. Towing expenses from transporting the vehicle.
