Repair Wind Damage at Wild East Farm

On Sunday, March 10th, while Noah and Lyric were speaking at the Organic Growers School Spring Conference, intense winds lifted up two of our newly-constructed mobile chicken structures and smashed them against one of our caterpillar tunnels.

The two chicken structures are completely destroyed and will need to be rebuilt from new materials.

The caterpillar tunnel was damaged such that it is not currently functional and we will have to replace the plastic and several of the metal bows and bars as they were bent beyond repair.

These costs are totally unexpected at a time when we have already made many investments for the growing season, but are not yet at full production so cash flow is tight!

Breakdown of costs:

Materials to repair tunnel - $350 (includes 50% storm damage discount from Farmers Friend)
Materials to build new chicken pens - $1000
Labor for Noah, Lyric, and Zak to complete all repairs: $600
Total: $1950

This is a bit of a bummer start to our second season, but we are so grateful for the continued support of our community!
