Repair Naboo's Ruptured CrCL

Naboo has been in our family for the last 12 years. He came into our lives by what I think the shelter staff could only describe as fate. He was a spunky, scruffy, gray blur of energy bouncing around in his kennel the day we came looking to adopt our new furry friend from the Anti-Cruelty Society. He was extremely vocal and full of personality, and he immediately took to us like he had known us his whole life. We socialized with him out in the courtyard while he bounced and ran. We giggled at his interesting quirks and mannerisms. Later that afternoon, we took him home.

According to the staff, we were the first two people he hadn't become aggressive towards or been anti-social with in his entire stay at the shelter. I believe he truly chose us to be his family, not the other way around. It's because of this that our hearts are heavy knowing his current medical condition and how much pain he is in.

A few weeks ago, while Naboo and my mom were out on a walk on a particularly icy afternoon, he slipped and pulled a muscle in his leg. She immediately brought him to the emergency vet after realizing he was refusing to put any weight on the injured leg. After imaging and blood work, the emergency vet concluded that he most likely had a torn ligament and would probably need surgery, but could potentially heal on his own. After the consultation with the surgeon however, we have learned that the ligament connecting the two bones in his leg is not just torn but is completely severed. This means that, without surgery, he will never heal on his own and his condition will worsen until his bones push themselves completely apart.

Naboo has been a constant beacon of warmth, joy, and safety in our lives over the past 12 years. The idea that he might never be his normal spunky self again without this procedure has left us deeply saddened. We're asking for help from our friends, family, and anyone else who would be willing to get Naboo back on his feet (literally!). He is scheduled for surgery as early as next week Wednesday (02/21/2024), but in order to keep his appointment we are required to put down a deposit the morning of. I know deadlines add a lot of pressure, but even if you aren't in a place to donate, just taking a moment to share the link and boost Naboo's story would help immensely!

All donations, whether big or small, are a great help and will go directly to Naboo's surgery/aftercare expenses. Your donations are greatly appreciated in this difficult time for the three of us, and we can't begin to thank you all enough for your generosity!

Signed,
Christy, Rayven, and Naboo!
