Help me repair my car after an accident
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Alexandra. For a year and a half I have been working as an independent contractor (doing deliveries for uber eats and various other delivery services) as a means to cover my bills, ever increasing rent, and food for myself, my mother, and our 4 cats. Life has always been a bit challenging for us. My mother is disabled and hasn't been able to work since I was a child. But she gave me such a wonderful life, and I have been lucky to be in the position to now try and help her, and do the best I can by her and for her.
Delivery driving was something I got into out of necessity. I never expected it to be such a good fit for our unique needs as a household. It has given me the ability to work as much as I can (sometimes up to 60 hours a week) so that I can offer us a better quality of life. It's allowed me to take my mom to her doctor's appointments without fear of not getting the time off. It allowed me the ability to drop everything if my mom needed help at home. Something that started out as just something to do for extra cash really changed our life. And for once we felt like we might be on the road to something better.
But on August 20th, I was in a car accident. A driver hit the side of my car while speeding. He crushed both of the passenger side doors and caused excessive damage to the wheel and axel, rendering my car unfit to drive. In a split second I lost the ability to provide for our home. I lost the freedom to take my mom where she needs to go. We've lost our independence and our income.
Within days I was able to secure a job within walking distance of my home, but the pay is much less than what I was making doing delivery driving. We had just renewed our lease, and we are afraid that we won't be able to cover our bills, our rent, and without a doubt we would not be able to cover the car repairs.
So I am turning to you, to my friends, to my family, to anyone, to ask you for help. The sooner I can fix my car, the sooner I can continue to provide for my loved ones. Please, if there is anything you can spare, every dollar is a blessing.
Your donations would go to the repairs of our car. We are still getting estimates trying to find the best deal. But the ones we've gotten average to about $7,000. It's possible it could even be more.
It isn't easy for me to reach out like this, to show you all my shortcomings, to be so vulnerable on such a public platform. But I truly do not know what else to do. Please help us repair our car.
