Repair and Remember: Honoring Amy's Legacy

Many of you knew Amy, and all who knew her couldn't help but love her. She was always quick with a joke, and quicker still with encouragement. I was deeply blessed to have the honor of calling her "Wife." Early on the morning of January 18th, Amy passed away in my arms, succumbing to a lasting case of pneumonia, unable to fight the internal battle of both the infection and a lifelong struggle with Charcot-Marie-Tooth.

We shared 16 wonderful years together, 8 of which were spent in a home which my heart can no longer bear to stay. As a result of her illness, my limited income, and packed schedule of work, school, and life, the home, which belongs to one of our dearest friends, fell into horrid disrepair. In her honor, I cannot leave without repairing the damages I've caused and am reaching out to my community in hopes of raising enough funds to cover her celebration of life, and make a fresh start with our two beautiful, heartbroken kitties in a new apartment.

I know how difficult these uncertain times are for everyone's wallet, and asking for this level of help is foreign to me, but I am beyond struggling and can see no other option. Amy was my whole universe, and I know how deeply mortified she would be were I to leave our home in this state, betraying a wonderfully giving friend who has only ever wanted to help us. Any amount which can be safely spared would go a long way to fixing an unintended result of financial distress.
