Dear friends, family, and community,
I’m reaching out with a heavy heart to share that my mom’s beloved business, Addison Street Salon in Berkeley, was deeply impacted by a recent fire that broke out next door at the East Bay Media Center on Monday, April 14th. We are grateful there were no lives lost or injuries caused by this fire.
While the fire didn’t reach her space directly, the smoke and water damage did. At first, damage seemed minor, but as the situation was assessed, it became clear that the impact was far more serious than we initially thought.
The salon is now uninhabitable and closed until repairs and cleaning are done. As a small, Black woman-owned business, being forced to close especially without warning, comes with a serious financial strain.
My mom has poured her heart and soul into Addison Street Salon, creating more than just a place of business, but a space of care, creativity, and connection. Many of you know how hard she works and how much pride she takes in making people feel beautiful and seen. Now, she needs our help to reopen her doors.
I’m asking for donations to help cover:
• Temporary loss of income for her and her staff while they are unable to see clients in the salon
• Cleaning and repairing smoke and water damage
• Replacing supplies and equipment affected by the smoke and water damage
• Covering any additional costs not covered by insurance
Whether you're able to donate or simply share this campaign with your network, your support truly means the world to us!
Thank you for standing by my mom and Addison Street Salon during this difficult time. Let’s help her get back behind the chair and doing what she loves.
