Hi, my name is Carl Osorio. My niece's son Lorenzo (my great nephew) celebrated his 1st birthday last month. Unfortunately Renzo suffered a life altering event shortly after. Renzo, fell into a pool on March 31st and became unconscious. He was rushed to Celebration Hospital in before being airlifted to Advent Health Children’s Hospital in Downtown Orlando.
My niece was told Renzo wouldn’t make it through the night. That first night was rough. He coded several times and sometimes it took 3 rounds of chest compressions to get a pulse. My niece was advised to stop fighting because we “were doing more harm than good” and “his body was telling us that he was done.” However, my neice is a great believer in God and in the power of miracles. She wanted to put this in God's hands and give Renzo a fighting chance.
The next morning he was still in critical condition and still coding. My niece was advised remove Renzo from life support. Direct words from my niece
"I almost said yes. I wanted to hold my baby so bad and for him not to be in pain but I want to fight for our baby boy and never give up"
A short time later Renzo coded again. He received another round of chest compressions and was stabilized. The doctors warned my neice if Renzo was to code again, they would not do another round of chest compressions. She begged the doctor that if Renzo coded again, to please provide the necessary life saving steps as she wanted Renzo's grandparents (my brother and his wife) who were traveling from Boston to be able to see him one last time. The doctors agreed. Renzo must have heard that grandma and grandpa were coming because he hasn’t coded since.
Fast forward a few days and Renzo is no longer in life support although his brain has been severely compromised. Renzo is still facing an uphill battle and a very very long road to any sort of recovery.
I am reaching out to my friends and family to help support my niece during this time as she will be facing a lifetime of medical bills. No donation is too small and would greatly be appreciated. Even if you can't donate, you can help by sharing this link. Please help spread the word. My niece and I thanks you all in advance.
