Hi everyone,
I’m raising funds to catch up on rent for a storefront space that I’m hoping to move into — a place that represents not just safety and stability for me, but also the continuation of my advocacy and community care work from a grounded foundation.
This space has already become a quiet refuge in the midst of displacement. Over the past several months, it’s been used primarily as a storage and survival space for community members experiencing homelessness and housing instability, especially those who have been repeatedly swept by the city with nowhere else to go. It has provided a small but crucial layer of stability for people trying to hold onto their belongings, their dignity, and a sense of safety.
Now, I’m working to make this space sustainable — not only as a home base for myself, but as a community hub where we can continue organizing, sharing resources, and building networks of care.
Over the past year, I’ve managed to stay afloat through gig work, mutual aid, and community support. But after being evicted from the apartment I’d lived in for seven years, I spent months without stable housing, living in the abandoned SPURS building at 1025 2nd Ave from April to August. During that time, most of my energy went into survival — not just for myself, but for others navigating housing, medical care, and social services.
Even while facing instability, I’ve continued this work because I believe deeply in collective care and in building systems that prioritize compassion over punishment.
Your contribution will help cover rent for this space, establish stable footing, and allow this work to continue from a sustainable foundation. Whether through donations or by sharing this campaign, every bit helps.
Monthly rent is 1700 and I would like to raise 2 months worth of rent in hopes I can find a consistent and reliable source of income and/or financial support.
With gratitude and love,
reina
