living in motel due to rental home being condemned
Donation protected
I've lived here for about 29 years and my wife for 10. The Town just started doing inspections of mobile homes back in December on a routine basis because they finally hired an inspector. She made her way to us on March 13. This place is a 1974 or 1975 model home and most everything is original. The floors have rotted due to old age and water leaks; the roof leaks and there are many problems. The inspector condemned it when she was here and we have to move, no choices. Problem is 54 other families are having to move at the same time due to a slumlord who was notorious for not keeping up her 4 trailer parks. There is no help available with any of the housing agencies in any of the counties in the state; their lists are full with waiting lists and they won't begin taking applications again until 2024. Rentals are unbelievably expensive running from 950 to over 3500 a month and many won't allow pets, which we have. With my End Stage Renal Disease and being on dialysis and having the Multiple Myeloma, I can't really do much; no energy, my feet are stiff and if I fall I can very easily break multiple bones. Misty is doing all the leg work, trying to get things into storage and trying to find a place for us all to go. If there is anything that you can do to help, it would be appreciated more than you could ever know. I can no longer work and her hours have been cut back due to a drop in sales. Funds will be used for moving expenses and will go toward a place for us to stay.
