My work with Shobi’s Table, a pay-as-you-can food truck in St. Paul, MN, has put me in relationship with people across the spectrum of humanity. I like to say that the world comes to us for lunch, and I don’t think that’s an overstatement. The combination of food and community have transformative healing power.
Recent events in Minnesota have prevented some of Shobi’s Table’s immigrant guests to come for lunch or even go to work. These are people who have a greater faith in America than many of us do at this moment.
Last weekend one of these friends, someone who has dedicated her life to helping others, shared with me that she is among those likely to fall behind in rent in March. I told her I would try to find some support for her and for several other families she knows who are in the same situation.
People from other places have reached out in recent weeks wondering how they can help. If you feel so moved, your dollars can go a long way.
Average rents are in the $1,000 range so I have a target of $5,000 I would like to reach.
Blessings!
