Hello,
My name is Amy and I am organizing a fundraiser that will go directly to paying rent for 21 vulnerable families who are living in mobile homes in the Twin Cities Metro Area, who have been impacted by ICE and who can’t be identified publicly due to safety concerns. I know many of the impacted families personally as I’ve delivered groceries to them and provided other resources since January. Throughout this fundraiser, I have been in direct communication with property management of the mobile home parks of the impacted families and we are working together to ensure the families needs are met. RP, the property management group for the park, will manage the funds and split them evenly amongst 21 families, and the families will each get a confirmation letter of credit to the account. These vulnerable families continue to live in fear and are afraid to go to work with the continued presence of ICE in Minnesota and in their communities.
Mobile home parks are especially vulnerable to immigration enforcement due to being isolated from surrounding neighborhoods, not receiving as much attention as other visible residential areas, and few entrances to the park allowing the area to be easier for federal agents to target. Mobile home parks are often on outskirts of suburbs which have continued to experience heavy immigration enforcement and activity since the alleged “draw down” of Operation Metro Surge. Rent is due and for many families, their home is the only place they have a sense of safety, the risk of losing their housing would be devastating.
Please consider contributing to directly help 21 families in need of rental assistance. Thank you and stay safe!
