Dear friends, lovers, dharma bums and used-books aficionados,
On behalf of Forest Books and Gregory Wood, we are writing you this fundraising letter. As you are aware, Covid-19 has effected many of the small independent businesses in the bay area. Bookstores are no exception. The fact that Forest Books has stayed open for the last 32 years is a miracle. It is not only one of the best used book stores in town, but a Dharma Center. It is a place for poor and rich alike to buy, sell, and trade for used books. It is also a place where people can feel the effect of a lifelong Dharma practice and begin to learn about this in their own life. Its selection of books is amazing. It is a light of wisdom in the neighborhood, open to all: a daily resource, as regulars drop by to hang out and exchange ideas on politics, culture, and spiritual thought. It needs to stay open.
Due to Covid-19, Forest Books was forced to close its doors for three months. We are looking for community support to help raise $10,000 in order to cover rent during that period of time.
As friends and colleagues of his, we are asking you to HELP KEEP THE STORE GOING!
Our friend, Gregory, is dedicated to the dharma and to provide this cultural center to help keep our communities together. He needs our help! And, more importantly, we need his help!
Independent bookstores are our lifelines to the truth. Places that are the living expression of wisdom and compassion need our dedicated support. We know that this oasis of peace and positive transformation is important in these difficult times. We can feel its effect on us from the moment we enter.
