Rent for Rita

Hello. My name is Satia Spencer.   I am raising funds to help my sister, Rita Banks, with past due rent, late fees, and other utilities.

Rita is a caring school nurse who loves her job and the children she serves.  Her dedication is reflected in her faithful attendance record and connection with the people around her.  In three years, she never missed a day of work even during the first seven months of the COVID-19 Pandemic.

In February of 2020 her health began to fail; onset of an auto-immune disease,  and she was unable to return to work after the allotted FMLA period had been expended.  She has finally been released by her physician to return to work and will regain her position and resume employment March 10.

The lapse in employment has left financial strains without many avenues for aid as Rita was not eligible for the recent stimulus payments. Family members have pooled resources to help maintain  expenses such as groceries, utilities, and fuel, but the larger expenses are yet unpaid. She has been served with eviction notices and a deadline of March 19 to make a payment.  The  full balance of 5,800 is expected by April 15.  Time is of the extreme essence as we are uncertain of the legislation that may or may not be passed and how it will impact her urgent circumstance.

Your immediate and compassionate support will allow my sister to use the compensation received from work to be placed toward current balances instead of interests and late fees.  It would mean that she could work efficiently with the staff and students she serves.  And most importantly, it would allow her to focus her concerns on her health and alleviate the the added pressure and anxiety that would adversely affect it.

In the midst of all that my sister has encountered in her life, she finds a reason to get up and keep going each day.  She has survived a number of things that many could not stand to bear and that I dare not mention.  But she is still here and still trying.  I am thankful for her strong will and God's grace in her life.

I am thankful for the many of you who came to my rescue when I was diagnosed with stage III cancer in 2017.  You helped me to pay for my surgery and kept me from losing my home.

And I am thankful and grateful for you who are reading this now, and finding it in your heart to show your love for my sister, who although may be a stranger to you, is still worth your time, your attention, and your donation.

Donations will be paid directly to the rental property account.  Any excess will be put toward medical expenses and utilities. Any and everything counts; no amount is too small.

Her Journey

Blessings to you,
