I've co-adopted a family of Syrian refugees in El Cajon, California. They're doing okay, thanks to generous donations of furniture, a minivan, a computer, and more, but now the International Refugee Committee's rent-funding has run out and we'd like to raise money to help cover at least another month's rent for a basic 2-bedroom apartment for this family of 6.
Sometimes the news makes me feel helpless: I know I can't stop the war in Syria, but I can try to help this one Syrian family. They are resilient & cheerful & also great cooks, and they & I are thankful for your support.
For anyone who doesn't know me: I'm Elaine Lewinnek. My grandfather was a refugee from Nazi Germany. My mother took in refugees from Vietnam. I think it's time now to help refugees from Syria, so I adopted this family through the Syrian Community Network's Heart 4 Refugees -- and I appreciate your help. Thank you.
