Rent Assistance Needed Due to Layoff
Donation protected
I'm a government contractor and was laid off on January 28th due to the government downsizing. I received notice on Friday, February 21, that we get to go back to work for 60 days starting on Monday, February 24th. I started a GoFundMe a couple of weeks ago and was able to get some assistance. I've applied and been approved for unemployment for $378/week but still have yet to receive any pay. I've also applied for emergency assistance with the Salvation Army and Virginia welfare. Being out of work for a month has put us in a financial hardship, much like the thousands of government employees and contractors losing our jobs. While I get to go back to work for 60 days, we are $2500 short for March rent. Our landlord is working with us the best she can and has given us a March 5 grace period.
Any amount will work. My family feels very grateful for the assistance we've received so far. We would be very thankful if we could raise the balance of rent in March.
Even $5.00 is a huge help. I sincerely appreciate any and all help to cover March’s rent.
