New construction of classroom in the Philippines

What motivates me to support this primary school in the Philippines is the opportunity to achieve a lot with relatively little. During my time in the small town of Buenavista, I was graciously welcomed into their homes, families, and, of course, their school. Realising that I have the potential to return the favour has made me very excited about this project!

Currently, the Grade 5 makeshift classroom is Buenavista (a town in Gubat, Sorsogon, Bicol Region) is in an extremely unsafe state. The roof is leaking, the walls are cracking, and the floor is uneven, making it dangerous for the students to focus on their studies. Your donation, no matter how small, can greatly contribute to creating a safe and comfortable environment for the Grade 5 students. Every little bit will go towards constructing a new Grade 5 classroom, purchasing much-needed supplies and equipment, and hiring skilled, local workers to complete the project.

Some words from the committed, inspiring principal, Ma'am Aleli: Learners are very much eager to learn despite the uncomfortable situation of the Grade 5 classroom despite their small makeshift classroom made of light materials. We are aware of the hazards this kind of situation poses to our children but due to very minimal resources what we could only do is look for kind-hearted individuals or organizations who are much willing to change the current situation of our Grade 5 learners. We are hopeful that from a very crowded, hot and small makeshift classroom will come a more comfortable and safe one in the future so that our students will learn more and experience a quality learning atmosphere.

The entire town is committed to this construction, and parents of the students have volunteered to help renovate the classroom allowing more of the funds to flow into the material and equipment. A previous urgent renovation of the makeshift classroom was completed within a week in January 2023 due to the hard-working and committed workers. That smaller renovation ran ever so smoothly that I am more than confident that this construction will be completed just as thoroughly and attentively as the previous one.
