To make VCA South a place where miracles happen!

Tax deductible
Hello, Friends!

Last year I became the Principal of Victory Christian Academy. Never have I felt so in love with the work I am doing. I am the captain of a team that is in the trenches, working with our most vulnerable children, changing lives on a daily basis.

I recently saw an incredible example of the results of our hard work and love and I would like to share it with you.

This past April, we stood in front of the Cudahy City Council to request a zoning change so we could move our upper campus into the community. People filled the council room. In fact, it was standing room only. About half-way into the public comment portion of the meeting, a Latino teenager walked up to the podium and began to address the ladies and men seated at the diesis. He was soft spoken, and the council members leaned forward to hear his words.

“I am here to support VCA moving into this new building,” he said. “My name is Geraldo – Gerry. I am a student at VCA and the opportunities in this community will make a huge difference for our school.” He went on to share his own story. He spoke of his dad passing away due to illness years before, and his mom’s recent death of cancer. He told the council that he lived with an older brother who was in a wheelchair after being hit by gunfire while inside a car. A stray bullet had severed his brother’s spinal cord. “I would never have made it through all of this without the staff and students at VCA. They are my family.”

There are so many wonderful things I could tell you about what we are doing, from the staffing and curriculum improvements we are making to address the learning loss from COVID-19 to our innovative triage and mentoring program that addresses generational trauma, to our thought leadership in teaching sustainability and self-reliance through agriculture.

I could share about our MC3 program to prepare high school students for paid apprenticeships in skilled trades or the massive expansion of our athletic program or even the current construction for our new flexible performing arts space.

But Gerry’s words sum up what is the most exceptional thing about VCA: we are a family. We approach our students’ educational journey holistically through partnership with parents and guardians to help their children develop intellectually, spiritually, emotionally, physically, and socially.

We love our kids, and we stand in the gap to help them break generational cycles of poverty, trauma, addiction, and despair. And you can be a part of what we do, part of the mission that began when VCA was founded by Vyon Rogers to provide exemplary education to low-income families emphasizing academic excellence, multiculturalism, character development and Christ-centered living.

We have recently acquired a new campus in Cudahy with 10 acres of green space that will allow us to develop, expand and grow our "Five As" (academics, athletics, agriculture, arts, aspirations).

Your donations will help us with the appointments and development of the campus. Through your generous contributions we can:

  • Build greenhouses to teach our students to grow their own food and live sustainably.
  • Build a workshop where students can learn carpentry, welding, construction, HVAC basics and more to prepare for apprenticeships in the skilled trades.
  • Renovate and create a first-class gym and basketball court for our teams.
  • Buy equipment for our soccer, basketball, volleyball, track and swimming programs.
  • Teach music, theatre and expressive dance.
  • Expand our restorative justice, peer mentoring and campus ministry programs.

Our immediate needs include fixing the infrastructure of the building, including HVAC and electric, renovating the building to add classrooms, repairs to the pool, updating the gym floor, and adding soccer fields to the grounds!

Thank you so much for any support you can give. (Anything you contribute is tax-deductible!

We humbly ask that with your donations, you also lend us some of your prayers, as we want to be in God's will with everything we do. We see ourselves as stewards of His most beloved possession - his children.

In His Service,
-Jennifer
