Rennae's Endometriosis Treatment in Bucharest

Hi everyone! As two close friends, we are doing a fundraiser on behalf of Rennae for her endometriosis treatment abroad in Bucharest.

As neighbors and close friends who adore the bones of this girl, we have watched her battle with this debilitating, invisible illness day in/ day out.

It has impacted every aspect of her quality of life.

Endometriosis is characterized by tissue similar to, but not identical to the endometrium and is located outside of the uterus. These fragments are different structurally and behave differently. It even creates its own estrogen. The tissue causes pain, infertility and organ dysfunction, invasions into structures in the body and scar tissue.

Endometriosis impacts approximately 1 in 10 individuals.

It took Rennae 7 years to fight for a diagnosis. It was only in June 2022 that she received her diagnosis of stage 4 endometriosis with a frozen pelvis, obliterated culdesac and deep infiltrating endometriosis invading her diaphragm, abdominal wall, ureters, intestines, bowel, rectum, uterus, around fallopian tubes and vaginal wall.

There are two endo specialists available in Ireland which leads to a lengthy waiting list of approximately 3-5 years until she is seen. Rennae has to travel abroad for excision treatment because of the lack of treatment and specialists that can see her in Ireland and the 3-5 year waiting list. She must be treated sooner before she possibly suffers organ loss and the disease becomes more complicated and degenerates her well-being and quality of life even more than it already has.

We choose to set this up as Rennae does not have the financial means to get herself abroad alone, the cost of this would mean that she will be paying off this whole journey not only alone but for the foreseeable future. Rennae is a super independent person and she finds it quite difficult to admit she needs help let alone ask for it, it's the reason we are doing this for her. We would be very grateful for any donations that we receive. Your money will go towards the treatment, travel expenses such as flights to and from Bucharest, any car travel expenses, MRI scans and her accommodation costs. With Rennae receiving treatment in Bucharest we aspire that this will give her renewed well-being and a chance to live a better quality of life.
