I was overcome when Renee shared what I meant to her and that we never really had a proper goodbye when I moved away. I often thought of Renee, reminisced about our youth, and missed the girl, my friend, "Nay," who helped shape who I am today.

What I rediscovered about Renee is that she is the most authentic, generous, and loving person I know, someone who shows up for everyone in her life without hesitation. She has always shown up for people who needed someone in their corner, often putting others' needs ahead of her own. Now, for the first time in a long time, she needs others to show up for her.

For the past 30 years, Renee has called a small piece of land in Ranchos de Taos home, where her mobile home sits. Her double-wide mobile home has stood there for three decades, but that chapter has now ended abruptly and painfully. After a legal dispute with the landlord over whether she could remain on the property, a court ruling has required Renee to leave the only home she's known for most of her adult life.

This loss comes at an especially hard time. Years ago, Renee survived a serious motorcycle accident that left her with a traumatic brain injury. She lives with the lasting effects of that injury every day, and through it all, her little dog Ozzy has never left her side — her steady companion and support through every up and down life has thrown at her. The mental, emotional, physical, and logistical demands of an eviction, packing, moving, and coordinating contractors are not things she can manage safely on her own.

The good news is that Renee has found a new piece of land in Taos, New Mexico, where she and Ozzy can rebuild. But moving a double-wide mobile home isn't like a typical move. It requires specialized professional movers to safely disconnect, transport, and reset the home on its new foundation; a secure storage facility to hold her belongings during the transition; and movers who can handle her personal items with care.

We're asking for $15,000 to cover:
