Hello-

Melissa and Nicole, Renee Woods daughters, are asking for your help with hospice expenses and funeral expenses. Renee was diagnosed with Small-Cell Lung Cancer on September 24, 2018. She made the choice to start Chemotherapy. She fought through treatment and waited for the next scan and she passed out and found that she had a growth in her carotid artery. She then continued treatments. The Drs initially gave her 1 year to live doing treatments. Through these years, it has spread from her liver, back to her lungs, to her brain multiple times. Every time it spreads, they did chemo or targeted radiation and we wait for the next scan and wait for the next news. April 21st, 2023 medics arrived at home again and took her to the hospital again. We received the news of the scan that she had that Monday, and it was bad news. The tumors have taken over her brain completely. The tumors are causing speech issues, cognitive issues, and daily life functioning issues. At this point, the Drs have recommended that she be placed in hospice. Her insurance does not cover 24/7 care and she would not make choices for her wishes over the past 4.5 years of what she wanted when this time came. At this point, the family is looking to take her home and hospice will come in and check on her each day. Her husband is looking for someone to come care for her while he is gone at work. We are looking for help with all the upcoming expenses to keep her comfortable till she passes to be with her father, brother and grandparents and to help cover her funeral.

At this time all we can ask is that you pray she can pass in peace and comfort and be set free!

Today we have reached enough money to pay for an aid to come into the home for the next 3 weeks, 2 times a week. We are still working with insurance and it unfortunately takes alot of time...it's like a bartering deal!! Nicole and the Chaplain (who is amazing) were able to move mom to a wheel chair and she spent a little time on the deck getting some . I try to post updates as much as I can. I have spent 3 days working with different insurance companies trying to get care for her. So fingers crossed something comes through soon!
