Renee Tabor lost home due to fire

A holiday favorite, “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” will be a hard song for Renee Tabor to sing this year.

On the evening of December 14, Tabor, her daughters Bri and Sophie, and fiancé Roy Crews were left without a home after a fire ravaged their Orland Park apartment building. While their particular unit was spared by the blaze, considerable smoke damage, plus structural damage has left the entire building uninhabitable until further inspection. By conservative estimates, this process could take up three months or more.

In the meantime the family salvaged what belongings they could, and now share a one bedroom hotel room.  For the past week, they have established a sense of normalcy—work, school, play, bedtime routines--all the while wondering when, or where, they will have a home again.

Neighbors and friends are asking for monetary donations to assist Renee, Roy and the girls in their road to recovering their loss. And while it may not be in time for Christmas, let’s help them get a good start for the New Year.
