Renee Ross's Cancer Fight
As many of you know, our dear friend Renee has fought and beat breast cancer twice. In March of 2020, she was diagnosed with Covid. By May, she was having residual effects that prompted her to go to the hospital. After some testing, they couldn’t find anything alarming that was causing her issues. In November, she started having some back pain, and weakness in her hand. She went to a hand specialist who did an X-ray and thought it was early stages of arthritis, but recommended she see a spinal specialist. At the spinal specialist appointment, they ordered an MRI. On her MRI, they saw multiple spots on her lungs, another on her vertebrae which prompted more testing, scans and doctors appointments. After consulting with her oncologist, they decided to do an MRI of her neck and head, which revealed more tumors on her brain. Renee’s current diagnosis is metastatic breast cancer (breast cancer that has spread to other areas of her body). She will be meeting with her oncologist, and several other doctors to determine her course of treatment, beginning with focus on the tumors on her brain.
This devastating news was pre-empted by the sudden loss of her father-in-law in April due to Covid. The family’s business had been shut down due to the state’s mandate, and was unable to come back financially, leaving Dave unemployed after 36 years.
I’m doing this fundraiser to help the Ross family with any unforeseen medical expenses they may incur. Renee is in for the fight of her life and I hope that we can come together as a community and help relieve some of the financial burden.
