Renee Benally's Story
Renee was the type of person who had a special affect on people, no matter how goofy or annoying she was, you could never truly stay mad at her. She was the youngest out of three children and of course the baby always gets their way. She was raised in Gallup, NM and resided in Albuquerque, NM. Her summers were spent at her childhood home in Lukachukai, AZ. Running around in the sage brush with her cousins, looking like a true “Rez kid” with sticks in her hair and dirt on her face. As years flew by, she was the family member who liked to stand out and loved trying new hairstyles and makeup trends. I remember one time I was at my grandma’s house and I was screaming because I found a spider. Little did I know, it was one of Renee's eyelashes. If you knew Renee, you know how long it took her to get glammed up every day.
There were times where she could cook you up a storm with few ingredients in the kitchen. Somehow, she made her meals taste like they were coming straight from a 5-star restaurant. No matter how hungry or how far you drove, she would not let you “snack” or nibble on something until she was done cooking. Every meal was filled with love and perfection.
She also had two beautiful boys; Terrel and Tyrese Jaramillo. She always tried her hardest to raise them the best way she could. Whether that was teaching them how to dress for Church, practice manners, or learn how to pick a lock. Renee was the type of mother who was true to her colors and was a hard worker.
Although there were good times with Renee, there were also bad times. She took the wrong turn in life and got caught up with the wrong crowd. Renee battled with substance use and she had been struggling and fighting to break this addiction. She was the type of person who tried to find the good in people and got caught up with bad influences.

Where the funds will go:
Her family needs support right now because of how tragically we lost our mother, daughter, sister, aunty, niece, and friend.
In the next coming weeks, months or years, Renee Benally’s family will be in a legal battle with her killer. As we prepare ourselves for the court cases, media frenzy, and emotional turmoil. We need help hiring a legal attorney, travel expenses to and from ABQ, NM Courthouse, legal and court fees, funeral services, and more. I hope you take Renee Benally’s story into consideration when donating.
Please don’t let her case fall in the shadows because she was a Missing and Murdered Indigenous Woman (MMIW). Help us act against her perpetrator and seek justice for her family. No one should ever lose a loved one so soon and so violently. Please share her story and consider donating to her cause. Ahéhee'
Thank you, from the Benally and Jaramillo Family.
