Rene Garcia’s biggest fight yet.

As many of you know, my uncle, Rene Garcia, lost his only beloved daughter, Bianca Michelle Garcia, on 11/27/22. Bianca was born with Down Syndrome and died unexpectedly at just 24 years old.

Rene was a single parent and Bianca’s primary caregiver all her life due to her chronic medical problems. As you can imagine, the heartbreak of losing a child (let alone with special needs) affected his physical and mental health dramatically.

Rene also suffers from serious medical conditions himself, and unfortunately, the grief of losing Bianca was too much to bear. He was admitted to the ICU and is now fighting for his life.

Rene is currently on life support/ a ventilator. Doctors are trying to stabilize him, but they are having a difficult time as Rene is requiring aggressive treatments and settings.

It’s hard to say what the next day will bring, but what our family is burdened with, apart from grief, is medical expenses. Rene is currently unemployed, uninsured and pending for disability. We are close to $250,000 in bills for his current stay, and the hospital is asking our family for a $5000 down payment.

If Rene survives, he will require rehabilitation and home care services. This is apart from recent hospital bills from Bianca’s ICU visit/ funeral (which still has not taken place).

Rene is survived still by his only son, Joshua Garcia, who lives with him at home. As you can imagine, it is an extremely difficult time for him as well.
