Hi Everyone,

I am starting a fundraiser for my cousin, Rene' Dabrowski, who is currently undergoing treatment for Breast Cancer. Rene's cancer was discovered after a routine mammogram in March. The following week she was called and told she needed an ultrasound. During the ultrasound, the doctor stated she saw a suspicious area that would be best biopsied as soon as possible. Four days after the biopsy, she received a call from the Imaging center doctor stating that she had cancer. As you can imagine, her ENTIRE world changed in an instant! She was diagnosed with estrogen-based invasive ductal carcinoma and needed to stop her hormone replacement therapy immediately. Quickly realizing what was happening, she made a few calls and got an appointment with an Oncologist at Yale. She was told she needed a lumpectomy with sentinel node biopsy. Her Oncologist referred her to Smilow Cancer Center in Guilford where she met her Surgical Oncologist. Rene' underwent her lumpectomy surgery on May 17, 2022.

Once she was healed from her surgery (6 weeks), she began a series of 19 radiation treatments on July 19, 2022 and will also need endocrine therapy for the next ten years. As you can imagine this is a very emotional and stressful time for her. Rene' has remained resilient and strong throughout her journey; she needs this time to heal her body and mind.

Rene' raised two children as a single mother working upwards of three jobs at once to provide for her family. Her daughter now lives on the west coast with her fiance' and her son also resides out of state. Rene' currently lives alone and worked forty plus hours per week before her diagnosis, and her treatments currently do not allow her to do that. As an only child, she is also responsible for the care of her mother, who has been diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia. She coordinates her mother's appointments and tends to her growing needs.

My hope in starting this go fund me, is to provide Rene' with funds to help cover her mounting medical and monthly bills, which are increasing with each passing day. This will allow Rene’ to complete her treatment and begin the healing process with an overall sense of calm.
