Renato is a severe autistic boy and a true warrior. Since he was only 8 months old, he has been bravely fighting Neuroblastoma, a rare and aggressive type of childhood cancer.

In Brazil, we have already reached the limit of available treatments. That’s when I, Beatriz, Renato’s mother, found hope in a new medication that has been saving my son’s life. This treatment is available only at Penn State Hospital in Pennsylvania, USA, under the leadership of the renowned Dr. Gisele Sholler, a pediatric oncologist who leads an international research study for children with Neuroblastoma.

Every three months, we must travel to the United States so Renato can receive the medication and continue fighting for his dream of a cure. Our next trip is scheduled for early December, but we still haven’t raised the funds needed for flights and accommodation — about R$ 25,000 (approximately USD 4,500).

Renato es un niño autista (nivel 3 de apoyo) y un verdadero guerrero. Desde que tenía solo 8 meses de vida, ha estado luchando valientemente contra el Neuroblastoma, un tipo de cáncer infantil raro y agresivo.

En Brasil, ya hemos agotado todas las posibilidades de tratamiento. Fue entonces cuando yo, Beatriz, madre de Renato, encontré esperanza en un nuevo medicamento que está salvando la vida de mi hijo. Este tratamiento está disponible únicamente en el Hospital Penn State, en Pensilvania, Estados Unidos, bajo la dirección de la reconocida Dra. Gisele Sholler, oncóloga pediátrica que lidera un estudio internacional para niños con Neuroblastoma.

Cada tres meses, debemos viajar a Estados Unidos para que Renato reciba su medicación y continúe luchando por su tan soñada cura. Nuestro próximo viaje está programado para principios de diciembre, pero aún no hemos reunido los fondos necesarios para los pasajes y gastos de estadía — alrededor de R$ 25.000 (unos 4.500 USD).
